For Real-World Versatility, Order Your Logo in Two Formats

Why Two Logos Are Better Than One

Every logo on the Logos for Lawyers site has a matching companion based on the same design concept but with a different aspect ratio because in the real world, logos have to fit into both horizontal and vertical spaces.

Imagine these two law firm logos, side by side, competing for attention among several column-wide ads in a Yellow Pages directory. Both are the same width, but because of the different aspect ratios of the two logos, one is far more eye-catching.

The matching stacked version of the horizontal logo makes a much better showing at the same column width.

Of course, the horizontal logo would work well as a web page header or, if the attorneys were so bold, displayed on the side of a bus. So by having two versions of their logo, the law firm can get more bang for their advertising buck across a range of media.

Does Your Law Firm Need Two Logos?

How much your firm will benefit from having two matching logos depends on the concept you choose, the size and shape of the words comprising your law firm name and how you plan to use your logo to identify and promote your law practice.

Typically, law practices branded using one or two attorneys' full names or a series of surnames, perhaps followed by "& Associates," end up with horizontal logos—especially if the logo designer has never had to lay out an advertisement requiring a relatively wide logo to fit into a relatively narrow space.

If you're unsure about ordering two logos instead of just one, I suggest you choose one design concept you like, let me customize it with your practice name and see how it works out. We can easily customize the matching companion design later if you decide you'd like the additional versatility of having both designs.
